Often following an infection like fever or loose motions, consultant neurologist Dr. Praveen Kumar Yada clarified that <strong>GBS is an <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.niams.nih.gov\/health-topics\/autoimmune-diseases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">autoimmune disease<\/a> whereby the body&#8217;s immune system mistakenly attacks its own nervous system.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4f10070fd7d30d04b4f5a407eac9ba57\">Though senior health officials in Telangana have discounted worries of an outbreak, stressing that GBS is not contagious and that cases often arise sporadically, the recent surge of <strong>100 cases and two deaths in Pune<\/strong> raises questions.
